The Annual Fund and Other Giving

The Trinity School of Frederick is grateful for each and every supporter.

Annual Giving is the foundation of fundraising efforts providing critical support to the school's operating budget. Each year at the Trinity School the tuition and fees collected by the school cover approximately 82% of the school's expenses. The Annual Giving Campaign which begins in the fall is an effort to close the gap between its income and expenses. The school counts on the generosity of the entire community to help raise the funds to support the operating budget. Every gift, large and small, is appreciated.

How are contributions used?

Annual Giving gifts are unrestricted so they can be used where they are needed the most. Every dollar given to Annual Giving is used immediately to maintain excellence, by meeting the school's most important needs and opportunities, including new and existing programs in the classrooms, financial aid, technology resources as well as enhanced programs in music, art, PE and Spanish.

Who participates in Annual Giving?

Trinity School of Frederick counts on its entire community, parents, faculty and staff, parents of alumni, grandparents, friends, trustees and former trustees. Participation in Annual Giving is a demonstration of our commitment to excellence.

Why is it important to participate?

Your gift supports our student's education this year. It ensures the best possible programs, facility and faculty for the students. Strong parent participation in our Annual Giving sends a very positive message to all members of our community, from trustees and grandparents to our own faculty and staff. Every gift helps us reach our goal. As we begin to seek more grants our levels of participation will be considered important criteria to indicate that we are worthy recipients and that we are contributing our fair share of support.

Do you only want large gifts?

Gifts to the Annual Giving range from $10 to $5,000. Large gifts are wonderful, but smaller gifts add up. Although we ask each family to give as much as possible, parent participation is critical. The goal of Annual Giving is 100% participation from every family at Trinity.

Why not just set tuition high enough to cover expenses?

We have chosen not to do so for three reasons:

1) Higher tuition might keep some parents from enrolling their children. We want to make Trinity School available to as many people as possible, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

2) Each family is asked to give as much to Annual Giving as they are able; those who can give more are encouraged to do so.

3) Contributions to Annual Giving are tax-deductible.

Are there tax benefits available when I give to Trinity?

Gifts to Trinity Annual Giving are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Can I make a contribution in the form of securities?

An excellent way to maximize the tax benefits of giving is to donate a gift of stock. By giving shares of stock, you can take a tax deduction of the stock value on the gift date and forego paying taxes on the gain of your investment.

How long do I have to pay my pledge to Trinity School Annual Giving?

You may pay your pledge anytime before the end of the school's fiscal year (June 30), though we prefer to receive all payments by May 29th. When you make your contribution, you will be sent an official receipt that you may use for your tax deduction calculations (if you itemize) in the tax year during that your payment was made.

Are there other ways to support Trinity School?

In addition to the Annual Giving Campaign, the Development Committee coordinates fundraising events including Trinity's Annual Library Tea in the spring and the Trinity Golf Tournament in the fall. Parent as well as Friends of Trinity volunteers are important and necessary to assure the success of these events.
